"Depardieu: Struck to the Heart"
pg 2

Tuesday July 4. According to some police sources, the paramedics arrive at the home of Guillaume Depardieu. Depressed?  Malaise - does one know the boy's liability with drugs? Or worse again. . . ? According to the investigators, the young man wrote a letter in which he exposed his existential problems, but also the importance of his financial worries. A situation he didn't dare reveal to his young wife nor his mother, Elisabeth, who was to pay his expenses some days later.

Gerard, Guillaume, Elisabeth and Julie, a rare photo of clan Depardieu in its grand entirety.

Saturday July 8. It is 2:30 in the morning. Elisabeth is sequestrated, tied up and burglarized in her property in Bougival. What did the thieves get?  1 or 2 million francs (of which two bronzes by Rodin being worth to them only 900,000 francs). To the police, she declares that she did not have time to see the face of her attackers. Our police sources don't rule out anything. Not even [drug] dealers.  The famous gang of "repairmen"? - come to clear Guillaume's possible debt?

One thing is certain: the assault on the mother of his children only aggravates the stress for Gégé. The following day, he is hospitalized. Today, all of his entourage worries. The children, the mother, Carole, everybody refuses to speak. And the caretakers say not a word. Yet, the director of the
Diner de cons, Francis Veber, is already looking for a substitute for Gerard's (small) role  in Le Placard, a movie that he produces. More serious, the filming of the sequel to Astérix (a marathon session of four to five months in the Saharan desert and a Pharaonic budget) is put completely in question. Depardieu is to join the set at the end of August? Everybody wishes it, but nothing is less certain.                     --    BY MARC LACROIX

The Producer of wine.  Jean Carmet, his good friend, had started teaching him about the wines of Anjou.  Since 1989, Depardieu has produced some 350,000 bottles annually of château-de-tigné, that you can drink at Planet Hollywood.

HER FATHER, THE HERO. Here with her parents, Julie seems, in many respects, to be the only one to have escaped the storm.
